How To Get Your Online Content Shared

Creating great web content is essential if you want to build a strong presence online – but this is only half the battle. Once you’ve got the content out there you need to work on a strategy to get as many people to share it as possible. After all, the more people that see it the more chance you have of winning new customers and enhancing your brand reputation. Social media sites have now opened up more possibilities than ever for content sharing and if you want your company to be noticed you need to get in on this. It doesn’t have to be complicated either.

Here are just a few simple tips to help you get your content out there:

Simplicity Is Key: When you’re posting content online you want to stick to a single, easily understood concept that really grabs the reader’s attention. But above all, make it easy for your followers to share! No matter how good it is, you should always make sure there is a single button in clear sight they can click on to spread on to their own networks. If you haven’t including this then you have seriously dropped the ball. As with all other aspects of your website, the sharing function should be intuitive. If it’s not immediately obvious how to pass it on, most people simply won’t bother.

Make It Relevant: Your readers are more likely to share your blog posts, videos, pictures and so on if they have value to them in some way. Think about your target customer base: What kinds of problems do they face? What do they enjoy? What interests them? Once you know this you can tailor your content accordingly and it is far more likely to be passed on. In addition to being relevant it should also stand out in some way. It should grab the imagination. Don’t be afraid to be a little bit different. And remember that strong visuals can make a big difference.

Encourage Sharing:
Don’t be afraid to ask: some readers may enjoy your post very much but it just might not occur to them to share it unless they were prompted to do so. At the end of each post or piece of content, encourage them to share it with their own followers. There is also another tactic, although it should be used sparingly: for particularly important items you can employ a content locker that stops the user reading any further until they have shared it. Some people will simply switch off of course, but if your content is valuable enough there will always be those who are happy to do what you ask.
