How to Get Your First 1,000 Instagram Followers
Is 1,000 followers on Instagram really a big deal? In the grand scheme of things, perhaps not. Nevertheless, it is one of the biggest and most important milestones you’ll pass on your way to Instagram stardom.
Hitting the 1,000 follower mark is therefore a very big deal for newcomers to the platform. You hit 1,000 followers, and you suddenly start believing in the possibility of getting 10,000 followers. If not, 100,000 or a cool million.
But when faced with such ferocious competition from millions of other publishers, what can you do to get ahead? How can you make your content and your profile stand out in such a way as to get more followers on board?
The answer lies in five simple tips – think of them as golden rules for achieving organic growth on Instagram in no time:
1. Post Content Consistently
Instagrammers who post sporadically (and infrequently at best) are never particularly attractive. After all, why would you follow somebody who doesn’t put out enough content to keep you interested? Spamming your target audience with filler isn’t the way to go, but long silent spells can be just as damaging. Create a content publishing schedule and stick to it, ensuring there’s plenty to keep them entertained and engaged.
2. Interact and Engage
Similarly, there’s little less appealing than a creator who doesn’t take the time to interact and engage with their target audience. If you want them to engage with you and your content, you need to do the same in return. Follow them, check out their posts, share them, like them, comment on them and so on. In short, lead by example, and chances are they will reciprocate.
3. Take Them Behind the Scenes
If they like what you do in general, chances are they will be interested to see how you do it. Behind-the-scenes content on social media can be pure gold, giving people an unfiltered and honest look at the real you. Let them see the person behind the profile, show them what your daily life looks like, and talk to them one-to-one.
4. Use CTAs
If your goal is to get as many new followers on board as possible, an occasional reminder can go a long way. Rather than simply expecting them to instinctively follow you, ask them to do so. Of course, this only works if you have already given them a reason to do so, warm of your superior content. Ask them to sign up, and express your genuine appreciation for those who do.
5. Persevere and Avoid Paid Gimmicks
Last up, the temptation to buy Instagram followers simply to push things in the right direction is understandable. Unfortunately, doing so could see you’re taking several steps in the wrong direction. Just a couple of fake followers in the mix could be all it takes to destroy your credibility and reputation. Not to mention, the risk of Instagram suspending or permanently closing your account, having broken the platform’s terms and conditions regarding spam.
