How To Improve Your LinkedIn Campaigns

LinkedIn is where the world heads to network with businesses, brands and professionals. Unfortunately, it is also a notoriously competitive platform, where standing out and making your voice heard isn’t easy.

Planning and executing a successful LinkedIn strategy takes time, effort and patience.  But it does not have to be nearly as complex as many newcomers to the platform assume.

In fact, getting ahead on LinkedIn can be as easy as following these simple yet essential guidelines:

1. Follow the "Magic Ten" Principle

First up, this popular principle for LinkedIn publishers simply means performing at least 10 activities on the platform each day.  Examples of which could include leaving comments, sharing posts, publishing something or reaching out to someone. Being as active as possible is paramount on LinkedIn, so setting 10 interactions as a daily baseline can help.

2. Network Proactively

One of the biggest mistakes many LinkedIn users make is expecting others to do the hard work on their behalf. Irrespective of how impressive your profile and list of accomplishments may be, you still need to put in the legwork. Be proactive and take the lead with your networking activities. Set your sights on reaching out to at least a handful of new people, businesses, brands publishers each week.

3. Create a Polished and Professional Profile

At a glance, your profile needs to send an impact full and appealing message about your professionalism. It also needs to contain the keywords of greatest relevance to who you are and what you do. Making the posts you publish SEO-friendly is also essential, in order to get as many eyes and your profile as possible.

4. Post Quality Content Regularly

Be mindful of the fact that posting quality content on LinkedIn does not have to mean writing your own articles from scratch. Sharing and recommending relevant posts from within your niche can be just as effective, in keeping people tuned in to your output. Of course, original content is always better - even if it means simply putting your own twist on something that’s already out there.

5. Reply Promptly and Professionally

Each time somebody reaches out to you, they deserve a prompt and professional response. For a question, an inquiry or a questionable comment on one of your posts, the same applies. This ensures that those checking out your posts and your profile know that you are actually listening to them. A LinkedIn publisher who seemingly ignores its target audience is rarely an appealing prospect.

6. Ask Them to Take Action

Last but not least, simply asking people to do what you want them to do can be surprisingly effective.  If you want them to comment on your posts, invite them to do so. If you want your posts to be shared as broadly as possible, tell them to do just that.  An occasional nudge in the right direction can go a long way on LinkedIn, as it can on all social networks in general.
