How To Increase Your Online Turnover

Online sales make up a large percentage of many companies’ turnovers today. Indeed, many now operate entirely online. If you rely on the Internet for part or all of your turnover then you need to learn the best strategies for maximising your potential. If you feel that your online turnover isn’t all that it could be given your resources, it could be that you are not using all the best tools at your disposal.

Here are some things you could consider doing with your website if you want to boost your online turnover:

Limit Your Online Range: Even if you have a dizzying array of products to sell, you should try to limit your online shop to your best-selling or most exciting lines. From an SEO point of view you will find that you are able to get higher up the search engine rankings with more targeted keywords. You will also find that you are better able to focus on the benefits of your products and present them to customers in a more logical way when there are fewer of them.

Build Your Mailing List:  Your website needs to have what’s called an ‘opt-in offer’ – your way of gathering visitors’ email addresses in order to build up your contact list. You can then use these to keep in touch with clients on a regular basis, giving them information on special offers or any events you are running. Ideally you should place the form in a prominent position on your home page with a brief, carefully worded piece of text explaining how they will benefit from opting-in.

Credible Copy: If you aren’t getting high enough sales from your website, a lot of this could be down to the fact that your copy simply isn’t clear or enticing enough. The trick with web sales is to be as concise as possible. People don’t want to read pages and pages of text: they want to know the key benefits of the product they’re considering buying and they want this information quickly. Otherwise they may get bored and look elsewhere. It may be worth hiring a professional copywriter or marketing expert to do this job for you. Headlines are particularly important as they exist to draw the reader in before they read the finer points about your products.

Attention-Grabbing Lay-Out: It’s important that you use plenty of images to illustrate your products and services, as these will draw the eye in and help to break up the text. After all, nobody is going to buy your products if they can’t see what they look like. When it comes to your text font, the thinking these days is to use several different styles to hold the attention of readers. You should also highlight any important phrases in bold or italics so they jump out.
